CINDY BERLACK Founder Cindy was raised in Wellesley, MA, then she went to Middlebury College. There, she balanced academics with alpine and nordic ski racing. After a year of fieldwork in Norway, living with the nomadic Sami reindeer herders, she graduated with BA Anthropology and a teaching certification. Steve and she married in 1990, after which she spent twenty plus years raising Ronnie and Carolyn, worked in schools and coached alpine skiing. Now she is entrenched in avalanche education due to the loss of Ronnie to an avalanche in 2015, the inspiration for BRASS.
